For a couple months I’ve been working a new project, a model of a dumpcar wagon. The model needs motorized tipping and mechanized sideboards.

For full details, you can go to project page, while this post has small update for the project.

This is a video with the latest state of mechanical features. I’ve printed both sideboards with linkages, and assembled the full bed. The joints are free to rotate to make motors' work easier later.

As I only assembled one side before, it turned out that putting 2 sets of linkages into the bed creates a rather tight fit (especially after some shrinking and warping of the resin). So I had to redesign the linkages and their slot to make linkages thinner, slot larger, while still keeping things as thick as possible to retain rigidity. I also had to leave more empty space for protruding pieces of copper wire, as they turned out to stick out and scratch resin, creating friction and preventing free move. As a countermeasure I also try to clip them as flush as possible.
